Nothing is holier, nothing is more exemplary than a beautiful, strong tree. When a tree is cut down and reveals its naked death-wound to the sun, one can read its whole history in the luminous, inscribed disk of its trunk: in the rings of its years, its scars, all the struggle, all the suffering, all the sickness, all the happiness and prosperity stand truly written, the narrow years and the luxurious years, the attacks withstood, the storms endured.
We have all heard that a tree is as strong as how deep its roots are.
It has rained 5 times, as far as I could count. In Kenya we have been experiencing drought in some places. The heat since December last year up to date has been heart wrenching. In my campus the results of the lack of water is evident. The once beautiful green scenery is now brown and dusty.
But in all that chaos, there are trees that are blooming. A beautiful sight to behold. These trees seem to bloom at the weirdest times. As I have come to learn, they are:Bonfire Patio Peach,African tulip tree,Pink Poui….etc . What makes them leave beyond the current situation. Answer: how deep their roots are. As much as this is true it is also important to note that tree roots follow the oxygen-rich macropores, whether they are in deep or shallow soils. The volume of this soil type determines above else how large the trees will grow.
So in that long story, or short. I wanted to say that i am growing my roots, looking for a rich soil.
I am working on a project of looking for mentors for former street children who are now in different children’s home. This not only helps the children but also helps those who want to give back but don’t know how to.
If you would like to volunteer your time in impacting these young minds ,contact me.
And as a leader is one who reads. Been reading on how the likes of Joanna Lipper and Erin Bernhardt have been able to produce and direct such heart touching stories. In my growing deep. I want to explore the art of humanitarian documentary. It is where i feel my heart is. And youknow what they say about home and heart. #homeiswheretheheartis
When we are stricken and cannot bear our lives any longer, then a tree has something to say to us: Be still! Be still! Look at me! Life is not easy, life is not difficult. Those are childish thoughts. Let God speak within you, and your thoughts will grow silent. You are anxious because your path leads away from mother and home. But every step and every day lead you back again to the mother. Home is neither here nor there. Home is within you, or home is nowhere at all.― Hermann Hesse,
So tell me, how are you growing deep. Let’s talk
